CLASS DATES
Our classes follow QLD State School terms: 2024 GCPA TERM DATES TERM 1 Monday 22 January – Friday 29 March (10 weeks) TERM 2 Monday 15 April – Friday 21 June (10 weeks) TERM 3 - Monday 8 July – Friday 13 September (10 weeks) TERM 4 Tuesday 30 September – Friday 6 December (10 weeks) Monday classes will extend into the following week of the school holidays to make up the 10 weeks if a public holiday falls on a Monday at the teacher’s discretion. |

10 Week Benowa Adult Class Times
KYONGHEE KIM
MONDAY: 9.30 - 12.30 pm BENOWA SATURDAY 9:00 - 12:00pm BENOWA 10 week term Members: $450 / Non-Members: $470 [email protected] Born in Korea, Kyong Kim has been a practicing potter since the early 1980’s In 1985 she completed a degree in fine arts majoring in ceramics at Mokwon Korea and furthered her study at the National School of Art “Ballardini” in Faenza 1993 1995. Her experience includes: - Sturt Craft in Mittagong as resident potter and teach - Her skills extend from domestic ware to the Sculpture form include hand building and wheel throwing. She is interested in the effects of firing including pit, raku and reduction. All aspects of her knowledge will be shared with her students. She enjoys seeing her students growing as artists. Kyong has been teaching at Gold Coast Potters since 2019. |
JO MACKENZIE
MONDAY: 6 - 9 pm BENOWA STUDIO TUESDAY: 9.30am - 12.30 pm BENOWA STUDIO (WEDNESDAY 6 - 9pm MUDGEERABA STUDIO see below for details) 10 week term Members: $450 / Non-Members: $470 [email protected] Jo from Amare Ceramics (www.instagram.com/amare_ceramics) teaches hand building and wheel throwing at Gold Coast Potters Mudgeeraba and Benowa Campuses. Jo began teaching after a year internship at Gold Coast's Firebird Studios in Burleigh Heads. Alongside her teaching, Jo has also done a 6 month internship with Mt Tamborine ceramic artist Larissa Warren, has completed the Diploma of Ceramics at Lismore TAFE, and she is currently studying her Bachelor of Visual Art at Queensland College of Art. Jo loves creating a welcoming and fun environment where students can learn, experiment and develop their own style. At the start of each term beginners will cover the core hand building and wheel throwing techniques with projects. Intermediate and advanced students will be introduced to a new technique each week with the option of following group challenges or being mentored through individual projects. Danielle Clarke is from Denmark but has called Australia home since 1994.Creative at heart, she has always enjoyed exploring different mediums such as painting, knitting and sculpting which have all influenced her pottery since she began practicing in 2015. Danielle loves wheel throwing and the endless opportunities for exploration that pottery offers. There is always something new to try out, some fun (or frustration) to be had but whatever the result, you always learn something from it and it always offers a deep heart connection.
Danielle has been teaching pottery since 2018 and she loves to support her students as they explore their creative sides and learn the craft.

Danielle Clarke is from Denmark but has called Australia home since 1994.Creative at heart, she has always enjoyed exploring different mediums such as painting, knitting and sculpting which have all influenced her pottery since she began practicing in 2015. Danielle loves wheel throwing and the endless opportunities for exploration that pottery offers. There is always something new to try out, some fun (or frustration) to be had but whatever the result, you always learn something from it and it always offers a deep heart connection.
Danielle has been teaching pottery since 2018 and she loves to support her students as they explore their creative sides and learn the craft.

Porsche is a Canadian born maker of useful objects. She is grateful for opportunities for growth and play that clay offers. A Tuesday morning pottery class at the Gold Coast Potters in 2016 has magically transformed into a full-time career in clay. She expects to spend the rest of her life happily muddy to the elbows, one way or another.
Porsche sets a project for each term and it is up to each Student if they wish to join in on that project or focus on their own. Projects are modified to suit beginners if they choose to participate.
During the term returning students will be completing the following projects:
● Wheel throwing jars with lids
● A mid-fire reduction firing on week 9

OWEN CARPENTER
WEDNESDAY: 6 - 9pm BENOWA STUDIO 10 week term Members: $450 Non-members: $470 [email protected] Owen is a designer maker who enjoys working with clay and timber. After completing a Bachelors of Art Education and a Bachelors of Design Ceramics at Sydney’s College of Fine Art, he has continued to produce a range of studio patter using wheel throwing and slip casting processes for various marketing and gallery locations in Sydney. During his classes Owen will share his technical knowledge, spanning a range of clay working processes such as wheel throwing, slip casting and slab building in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Emphasis will be on helping students produce useful tableware, sculptural forms and encourage experiments in surface decoration. Fortnightly demonstrations will provide a variety of technical skills to be applied and used throughout the term. |

CHERIE NOBLE
SATURDAY 10.00am - 1.00pm MUDGEERABA STUDIO 10 week term, smaller class size $550 for members/ $570 for non members [email protected] Cherie Noble has a love of sculpture and functional ceramics. Cherie has guided many students to find their own creativity , helping them to develop skills and find their own style in ceramics so they can create what they desire. Cherie teaches all aspects of ceramics including wheel, handbuilding, sculpture and surface decoration. Whether you want to throw small bowls, create sculptural works, learn hand building techniques, or learn to combine different mediums, Cherie will work with you to make exactly what you want. Cherie came to ceramics after completing a Bachelor of Digital Media, Fine Arts where she focused on sculpture and video installations to comment on marine plastic pollution. In 2018 Cherie took an internship with Firebird Studios to learn the technical aspects of ceramics. During this time Cherie worked with Lynda Lehman to create “Bower” for Swell Sculpture Festival, a sculpture made from marine plastic, ceramic tiles, and camphor laurel which is now positioned at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. |
